Early Intervention Service

Ohomairangi Trust is a Specialist Service Provider accredited by the Ministry of Education to service children 0-6 with high or very high special needs.  We have a trained team of psychologists, early intervention teachers and speech language therapists.  

Our professionals visit children and their whanau at home and at their early childhood settings, as part of building a relationship with parents and children, assessing, planning and implementing a developmental programme, reviewing and evaluating process.
Early Intervention Service Referral Form

EarlyBird Parent Education 

 The EarlyBird® Programme is for parents/carers supporting a pre-school child with Autism and is offered to whanau receiving Early Intervention Services with Ohomairangi Trust. This three month programme involves group sessions and home visits which: 
Help parents/carers understand Autism; why children with Autism do what they do and how adults can help them; Discuss strategies that increase communication skills; Help parents/carers problem-solve challenging situations and behaviours; Use video sessions to help parents/carers use their learning at home.

ACC Accreditation 

Education Support Work

Paraprofessional staff are employed part time to work alongside children who meet the ACC Education Support Work criteria, to support their inclusion and individual development plan, within their early childhood centres.

Developmental Assessment

Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) refer families where there is a query of ASD, for a developmental screen which consists of home and centre visits and observations, interviews with key people in the child's life, to inform a an assessment report for the paediatric team who then decide which clinic the child and family will be given an appointment for.
